The local community wanted to address their specific housing needs and the scheme provided 15 Affordable and 9 market dwellings. The affordable houses were all 2 & 3-bed and 8 of the market houses were 2 & 3-bed. This focused on recent a Housing Needs Survey (HNS) and the market housing was designed to encourage younger families to remain in the area and older to people to downsize and remain close to their family networks. The scheme was recommended for refusal because of the 3 designations (GB/AONB/AGLV) but was approved at committee by 10:0. The collaborative approach was vital to success and when Waverley referred the decision to the DCLG, the Minister was grateful for the engaged strategy employed throughout.
